About VoterWatch

VOTERWATCH: MISSION AND OBJECTIVES
VoterWatch is an innovative non-profit that utilizes media and technology to encourage participation in the political process. We work with advocacy groups, bloggers, journalists, and educators who are fighting for change and accountability in government. Through various projects and our interactive tool — the VoterWatch Media Player — we are committed to assisting non-profit advocacy groups in creating and sustaining accurate and comprehensive records that work to make the American government more transparent. As a non-partisan, non-profit organization, we stand firmly grounded in the notion that we must remain independent – free from bias and allegiances that would slant our image to any one party or cause. With this in mind, we work with organizations on both sides of the aisle.
Through the use of our interactive video player and numerous projects (CommitteeWatch: The Congressional Evaluation Project and the Presidential Debates Project) we plan to assist influentials and advocacy groups in better using technology, specifically video content, to make their voices heard. It is through this work that we are joining forces with other members of the open government community to empower various social and political advocacy groups. VoterWatch serves organizations across the nation and is continuously engaged in a variety of government transparency and citizen engagement projects.
In addition to special projects and the implementation of our democracy tool, VoterWatch publishes two to three weekly editions of the Transparency Recap, a blog feature that is dedicated to covering some of the blogosphere’s most informative open government and citizen engagement news and commentary. The recap is read my members of the open government community, journalists and bloggers from across the nation.

MAIN PRODUCT/SERVICE: THE VOTERWATCH MEDIA PLAYER
Through the VoterWatch Media Player, we provide a virtual democracy where the physical dimensions of the House and Senate no longer constrain who can be part of the legislative conversation. The VoterWatch player enables advocacy groups and their audience members to use video content like never before. Instead of presenting static video, advocacy groups can make themselves commentators inside of some of today’s most impactful social and political events.
Advocacy groups no longer have to remain bystanders to the Congressional hearings and political events that matter most; our unique player affords individuals and organizations complete control over the video viewing experience. VoterWatch’s innovative technology revolutionizes legislative commentary and enables users to sync comments to specific points within video. Then, user commentary scrolls alongside select video content. VoterWatch enables advocacy groups to act as their own media commentators, as they can blog, comment, link, fact check, rebut and interact within Congressional and political video.
