The Heritage Foundation Releases Commentary on the Final Presidential Debate

October 18th, 2008

By Billy Hallowell, VoterWatch

While the first two presidential debates were completely inadequate in terms of providing valuable information about candidate stances, the final debate was more open in terms of scope and communication.  While still not subscribing to the recommendations that The Open Debate Coalition laid out, the final debate did provide a more informative forum.

While we are happy to have Dick Morris and our “regulars” on board for this final debate, we are even more excited to announce that The Heritage Foundation and Reason Magazine have decided to participate in our final installment of the 2008 Presidential Debates Project.

Rob Bluey of The Heritage Foundation did an amazing job inserting commentary using the VoterWatch media player.  Bluey brings a robust presentation of thought and perspective to the best debate of the bunch.  I’m sure you’ll find the resulting product intriguing.  Also, be sure to see the annotation posted on the Heritage site as well as Bluey’s piece about VoterWatch and the player on K Street Cafe.  Or, to simply view the commentary, click the image below:

    My fellow citizens:

Consider the simple question on Abe Lincoln: Why was he taken seriously when speaking at Copper Union ? - My take is that ‘he had an audience when having something to say ‘ - This is why in my opinion that debates should be open to other candidates.

I, like other US citizens, found the Democratic candidate Obama, and the Republican one, McCain, to be woefully inadequate in pro
viding real answers to the important questions posed by Tom Brokaw.

In other words, to provide answers with workable solutions that have strategic vision for our nation.

Given the opportunity, any 2008 Presidential Candidate, that is worth their salt, should be able to address these questions forth
rightly; and not by pointing fingers at others.

As a Presidential Candidate I did answer Brokaw’s questions. In fact, he even has a copy of them. This is also in public domain:

My answers are based on the book called the New Deal. As a Presidential Candidate, it is my platform and commitment to our nation. It was published in June 2007.

Like the book, the answers are written with the heart of a statesman, and the head of an engineer. Combined, this enabled addressing the debate questions competently with the compassion and focus necessary for our nation.

Although a write in candidate for 2008 for those who feel empowered in at least five states, I believe what is written will meet
or exceed the expectations of most U.S. citizens. This is for earning the trust necessary to lead our nation. Decide for your sel
    f !

    Respectfully yours,

    Orion Karl Daley
